Types
Rotary, push-button, touch, smart. For LED — leading/trailing edge or DALI dimmers; check compatibility with the driver.
LED compatibility
Not every LED dims — check the «dimmable» marking. The dimmer power is 3-5 times the lamp power for LED (inrush).
Wiring
Dimmers need a neutral at the switch (except for leading edge). For DALI — a 2-wire bus. In the design, lay 3 wires to every dimming switch.
Scenes
«Morning», «Evening», «Movie» — groups and levels are set in the controller. The design shows which groups are dimmed.
Where dimming is used
Living rooms and bedrooms, dining zones, retail accent light. Not recommended for bathrooms (humidity) without SELV.
Why design
A dimming mistake: the wrong driver, no neutral, flicker — discovered after the repair. The design checks everything.
