Migrate to GorkyCAD from Other CAD
Step-by-step guide for migrating projects from AutoCAD, EPLAN, KOMPAS, and Excel to GorkyCAD Pro. Fast, simple, and without data loss.
Migration Without Headaches
Switching to new software is always stressful. We've made the migration process to GorkyCAD as simple as possible. Import your existing projects and continue working in a modern environment. All popular formats are supported: DXF, XML, CSV.
Migration Routes
AutoCAD
Easy- 1 Export your project from AutoCAD to DXF format (DXFOUT command)
- 2 Open GorkyCAD Pro: File → Import → DXF
- 3 Select the DXF file — GorkyCAD automatically recognizes the floor plan
- 4 Verify recognized walls, doors, and openings
- 5 Place sockets and lighting fixtures — and continue working
All DXF versions from R12 to 2024 are supported. AutoCAD layers are converted to GorkyCAD layers.
EPLAN
Medium- 1 Export your project from EPLAN to XML (AutomationML) format
- 2 Upload the XML file to the converter at tools/gorkycad-converter
- 3 The converter will extract: project structure, device list, macros
- 4 Download the converted .gorkycad file
- 5 Open the file in GorkyCAD Pro and verify the result
The EPLAN → GorkyCAD converter is in beta. Single-line diagrams are fully converted; 3D panel layouts are partially converted.
КОМПАС
Easy- 1 Export your drawing from KOMPAS to DXF format
- 2 Open GorkyCAD Pro: File → Import → DXF
- 3 Select the DXF file — GorkyCAD recognizes the geometry
- 4 Add electrical objects on top of the imported plan
- 5 Done — your project is ready for calculations
KOMPAS-Builder and KOMPAS-Graphic are supported via universal DXF export.
Excel / Calc
Easy- 1 Prepare a load table in CSV format (UTF-8 encoding)
- 2 Columns: Name, P_installed(kW), Demand_factor, cos φ, Phase (1/3), Group
- 3 Open GorkyCAD Pro: File → Import → CSV Load Table
- 4 GorkyCAD automatically creates panels and connects loads
- 5 Review and complete the project in the editor
A CSV template file is available for download. English and Russian column headers are supported.
Migration Effort
Time estimates for typical migration scenarios:
| Projects | Time | Method |
|---|---|---|
| 1 project (apartment) | 15 minutes | Manual DXF import |
| 10 projects | 2 hours | Batch DXF import |
| 100 projects | 1 day | Automatic converter |
Migration FAQ
Is cable routing preserved when importing from AutoCAD? ▾
Yes, if cable routes are drawn as individual lines in DXF and placed on appropriate layers. GorkyCAD recognizes them as cable lines. When importing from EPLAN, routing is fully preserved via XML.
Do I need retraining when switching from another CAD? ▾
GorkyCAD's interface is intuitive — most users master it in 2–3 days. If you've worked in AutoCAD or KOMPAS, basic drafting principles (snaps, layers, selection) are already familiar.
What if my DXF file won't open? ▾
Check the file encoding (UTF-8 or Windows-1251). GorkyCAD supports DXF R12–2024. If the problem persists — send the file to support@gorkycad.pro.
What about data loss during conversion? ▾
For DXF conversion, geometry is 100% preserved. For EPLAN XML conversion: diagrams — 100%, structure — 100%, 3D panel layouts — ~70% (being improved). All data undergoes automatic verification.
