IS 732:2019 — India's main wiring code (BIS). 230/400 V, 50 Hz; IS 1293 sockets (6 A/16 A, three round pins).
6.3 Minimum copper sections: 1.0 mm² lighting, 1.5 mm² socket circuits. 6.5 Heights: switches 1.2–1.4 m; sockets 0.3–1.0 m.
7.1–7.2 MCBs (IS/IEC 60898) per circuit.
7.4 30 mA RCD mandatory: bathroom/wet-area sockets, outdoor sockets, kitchen appliance sockets; recommended for all dwelling socket circuits. Fire RCD 100–300 mA at the intake.
TN-S, TN-C-S, TT (IS 3043); earth conductors: copper 4 mm² (open) / 2.5 mm² (conduit); bonding in buildings.
Bathrooms per IEC 60364-7-701-style zones; sockets via 30 mA RCD; IP44+ luminaires in wet areas.
Insulation test 500 V, ≥ 0.5 MΩ; PE continuity; RCD test button; fault loop impedance; reports.
